In India, the Anuvani-Sultanganj Bridge collapsed again
In India, the four-lane road bridge Anuvani-Sultanganj collapsed for the second time in two years.
The bridge spans the Ganges River and is located in Bhagalpur, Bihar. According to local media, first the central fragment of the roadway collapsed, after which the bridge piers slanted, and it fell into the river.
Recall that in 2022, part of the same bridge was demolished by a storm. Later, the structure was restored, but experts believe that it was not done very well, as a result of which the bridge collapsed again. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
The length of the bridge is more than 3 km. Its construction began in 2014, and it was planned to complete the construction work in 2019. However, this period has already been extended four times. In total, more than $200 million has already been spent on the construction of the bridge.
