Egypt began to actively replace Russian tourists, expanding flights to its resorts for Israelis

Egypt has begun active substitution of Russian tourists, expanding flights to its resorts for Israelis

The “tourist hole”, which was formed by the absent Russian tourists in the resorts of Egypt, was partially patched up by the local authorities. On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced that the Jewish state and Egypt had agreed to increase the number of flights and open a new direct flight between Tel Aviv and Sharm el-Sheikh. Flights will start in April. The agreement was reached after the visit of an Israeli delegation to the country of the pyramids.

According to the Israeli press, back in September last year, a meeting was held between the Prime Minister of Israel and the President of Egypt in Sharm el-Sheikh, where issues of security and tourism were discussed. Egypt has long played the role of a mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and once it itself won the territory of the famous resort of Sharm el-Sheikh from Israel, and now it is ready to develop its tourism in the Sinai Peninsula with the help of Israeli tourists.

As noted by the publications with a reference to the statement of the Prime Minister's Office, this step is aimed at developing relations between the two countries. The parties have reached an agreement that will come into force next month at the same time as the Jewish Passover (April 15 to April 23).

“Cooperation between the two countries is expanding in many areas, and this serves the interests of both peoples and contributes to stability in the region. This agreement will contribute to the relationship between Israel and Egypt,” the Israeli official said.

The statement stressed that as part of the expansion of the range of direct flights, a new route will be opened between Ben Gurion International Airport and Sharm El -Sheikh.
