EU countries may return to visa discussions with Russia on September 7

August 30-31 EU foreign ministers held an informal meeting in Prague, during which the issue of limiting the issuance of Schengen visas to Russians was discussed. The foreign ministers failed to reach a unified position on this issue, however, it was decided to suspend the simplified visa regime.

According to Vedomosti, on September 7, representatives of the EU countries may approve the suspension of the agreement. In this case, the visa fee will increase from 35 to 80 euros, the number of multiple-entry visas will be reduced and the duration of visa processing will increase.

We remind you that Poland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are ready to take measures at the national level to reduce the flow of Russian citizens entering the EU countries and the Schengen area.
