Russians who fled the country during the special operation and sanctions are actively looking for a place to live in Turkey. At least, it was the Russians who took third place in the ranking of foreign buyers who are now purchasing housing in Antalya. This assessment was called by Omer Faruk Akbal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association for the Promotion of Real Estate Abroad (GİGDER). According to him, together, Russians and Ukrainians, “who left for Turkey for security reasons,” doubled their spending on real estate in Turkey's Antalya.
“The real estate platform Emlakjet recorded a 51% increase in searches for homes for sale with inquiries coming from Russian citizens. For Ukrainians, this growth is even higher – 63%,” the expert said. As a result, Russians make up the third largest group of foreign buyers, and Ukrainians occupy the eighth place.
“In February and March, property purchases in Antalya increased sharply, sales in Antalya to buyers from Russia increased by 96% and by 85 % among buyers from Ukraine,” added the President of the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Davut Chetin. He also stressed that this surge of interest has a downside: prices have increased in some parts of Antalya. In some parts of the city, prices have risen by as much as 100%.
Recall that, as Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu said, during this time at least 58 thousand Ukrainians and about 20 thousand Russians arrived in the country. At the same time, about 29 thousand Russians and 9 thousand Ukrainians were already permanent residents of Antalya. As a result, according to real estate agents in Antalya, the prices of rent and housing in the city almost tripled due to high demand. Click here for pricing details.
