New taxes for tourists will be introduced in Egypt
The Egyptian authorities are going to introduce an outbound tourist tax for tourists leaving the country.
According to preliminary data, the fee will be 100 Egyptian pounds (about 250 rubles).
At the same time, for tourists who arrive in the main provinces, including the Red Sea, South Sinai, Luxor, Aswan and Mersa Matruh, the amount fee will be 50 pounds. This amount will be included in the cost of air tickets.
Additional taxes on purchases in duty-free shops and imported goods may also be introduced.
If legislatively approved, these changes will come into force on July 1 2023.
