The Ministry of Economic Development believes that the passenger traffic of Russian airlines may be 15% lower than in 2021.
“Taking into account current trends, passenger traffic in 2022 is estimated at 206.8 billion passenger-kilometres (down 15%). In the medium term, a slight increase in passenger traffic is predicted, which by 2025 may reach 213.1 billion passenger-kilometers”, Interfax quotes the department’s forecasts.
It is also assumed that the transportation of goods by air the results of the current year will decrease by 5%, to 1.4 million tons, and the freight turnover will decrease by 8.4% to 8.43 billion ton-kilometers. At the same time, by 2025, a slight increase in cargo transportation is possible: 1.5 million tons, which will be 1.5% more compared to 2021.
