Tourism in Russia: a list of regions where covid restrictions have been lifted and where left

In most Russian regions, a tourist can visit a museum or a restaurant, as well as check into a hotel without QR codes and certificates. But it’s useful to put a pack of masks in a suitcase just in case, although in most resort destinations they also look at the observance of the regime through their fingers. Medical tourism is another matter, here sanatoriums may require, among other things, a certificate of epidemiological environment. Such details were provided by ATOR experts, who collected detailed information on the “covid safety measures” that have been preserved in the Russian regions.

As experts noted, the trend for the complete removal of restrictions started in early March 2022. Now its relics can be considered a mask regime in certain regions and the requirements of individual objects for the provision of certificates. In general, a domestic tourist may well move without codes and certificates. It is more difficult with masks – two-thirds of the regions have officially preserved the mask regime, including, by the way, St. Petersburg, where nothing has been officially canceled. In fact, wearing masks is observed very formally, but there is a risk that they may be required – in the most unexpected places.

Medical tourism can be called a separate punt, since the vast majority of sanatoriums require a certificate of epidemiological environment from tourists to check in. You may also need a vaccination certificate, a certificate from a sick person or a test. Moreover, it depends not so much on the region, but on the management of a particular boarding house. So tourists are advised to check with a particular object the rules of check-in before booking.
