A large fine, and more precisely, about 14,000 rubles, Russian tourists will pay for a very simple mistake in the resorts of Spain this summer. We are talking about a fine for driving a car in improper shoes, the Spanish authorities said.
Despite the hot weather, tourists are not allowed to drive their own or rented car in flip-flops. In addition, high-heeled and barefoot driving is prohibited throughout Spain. The explanation is simple – safety precautions. A foot in uncomfortable shoes may slip off the pedal.
However, this is not the only law that tourists break during their holidays in the country in the Pyrenees. So, several tourist hot centers, including Barcelona and the Canary Islands, prohibit smoking on the beach. For violation, a fine of up to 135,000 rubles in terms of local currency is imposed.
Here are a few more prohibitions in force in the country. For example, in Barcelona, tourists can only wear beachwear on the beach, and vacationers who walk around in the city center without attire acceptable for the city may face a fine of up to 20,000 rubles. The same law applies in Mallorca: those who violate it will have to pay up to 40,000 rubles.
The Spanish authorities have developed a penalty system for the so-called “balconies” – amateur tourists to jump from the balcony of the hotel into the pool. The law was passed after repeated unsuccessful attempts by drunken tourists to jump right into the pool. Often their attempts ended in injury and death. In hotels located on the Balearic Islands, which include the famous resorts of Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca, violators will face a fine of 50,000 rubles to 100,000 rubles.
