The Russian special operation in Ukraine slightly “reformatted” the preferences of the German tourist market, however, German tourists, who have only recently received freedom from covid restrictions, do not intend to give up either summer holidays or Easter holidays. According to Turizmdatabank experts, who compiled a report on booking trends, in mid-February, before the Russian special operation began, early bookings were actively growing in the German market – mainly tours to Turkey, Mallorca and the Greek islands.
< p>At the end of March, the booking preferences of German tourists did not change much, although their order did change. In demand for the summer, Spain has taken the lead instead of Turkey, followed by Greece and Turkey. However, Turkey turned out to be the most requested destination for Easter.
“Despite this decline in demand, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Egypt and Portugal top the list of German holiday bookings in 2022. The tourist regions with the highest number of bookings from German travelers are the Turkish Riviera, Mallorca, Hurghada, Crete and Fuerteventura,” the experts said. At the same time, in the summer season, Rhodes replaces Hurghada in fourth place.
By the way, prices for 2022 “did not spare” German tourists either and increased significantly for all countries compared to pre-pandemic prices. Egypt occupied the first place, where prices rose by 27%. Europe is still holding them at a relatively low level of growth – it was 15% in Greece, 14% in Spain, 12% in Turkey and 8% in Portugal.
